Terms of Service

The agreement between you and TaskAssure: how a task is priced, paid for, evidenced and confirmed, and what happens when it goes wrong.

TaskAssure Ltd ("TaskAssure", "we", "us") runs a service that gets real-world tasks done in Kenya for people who cannot be there to do them themselves. These terms are the agreement between you and us. Read them before you send us a task — placing a request means you accept them.

1. What TaskAssure actually does

We take a task, price it, and execute it through our network of Field Partners. The work runs to a defined plan, and the Field Partner captures evidence — photographs, receipts, a location check-in, a signed confirmation, whichever the plan calls for. We check that evidence against the plan before telling you the task is done.

We are the party you contract with, and the only one. You do not select, engage or instruct the person who goes; we assign the work and we answer to you for it. Field Partners work to our instructions and our standards, and are independent contractors rather than our employees.

We are not a courier, a bank, a law firm, a hospital, or an agent for any government office. Where a task involves one of those, we do the visiting, the queuing, the collecting and the reporting — we do not make decisions on their behalf and cannot promise their outcome.

2. Your account

You need an account to track a task. Requests that reach us by phone, WhatsApp or referral have an account created for them, which you can claim later through the forgotten-password link.

Keep your details accurate and your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, unless you tell us it was not as soon as you know.

You must be 18 or older to use TaskAssure.

3. How a task is priced

Catalogue services carry a listed price. Anything unusual is quoted before it starts. A quote covers the work described in it, and nothing else.

Our fee is 15% of the price of the work. The rest is the Field Partner's. Urgency changes the price by a published multiplier, and certain evidence types carry a small additional charge — both are shown to you before you pay.

Where a task involves buying something or paying a charge for you, your bill has two parts and they are shown separately:

  • The work — going, queuing, buying, delivering, and capturing the evidence. This is what we charge for, and it is the figure our fee comes out of.
  • Money spent on your behalf — the price of the thing itself, a government fee, a counter charge, materials. This is billed at cost. We take no fee on it and no part of it is anybody's earnings.

Money spent on your behalf is estimated before the task starts, and we ask for it up front along with everything else — a Field Partner cannot buy on your behalf with money that has not arrived. It is not held in escrow; see clause 4. Once the task is done we settle the estimate against what was actually spent: anything unspent is returned to you, and if the real cost came in higher we tell you before asking for the difference. Anything material is agreed with you first wherever it can be.

Prices are in Kenyan Shillings. Amounts shown in another currency are an indication only, converted at a rate we refresh periodically; what you are charged is the shilling figure.

4. Paying, and what we do with the money

Payment is made before the work is dispatched. We accept M-Pesa, bank transfer, card, and cash paid to the desk. There are 5 accounts money is allowed to land in, and every payment is reconciled against a task reference.

Always quote your task reference when you pay. Money that arrives without one sits unmatched until we can identify it, and your task does not move in the meantime.

We are not an escrow service and we do not hold your money in a custody account on your behalf. What we do is simpler and worth stating plainly: nothing is sent out until the payment for it has cleared. If the evidence you asked for is not produced, you do not pay for the task, and we refund you under clause 6.

This applies to money you send us to spend on your behalf as well. We record it separately, we take no fee on it, and we account to you for what was spent — but it is not ring-fenced in a separate account, and you should not treat it as though it were. What protects you is that it is a debt we owe you, recorded against your task, and returnable under clause 6.

5. Verifying the work

Each task carries an execution plan, fixed when the task is created: the stages the work runs through, and the evidence each stage owes. That plan is what the task is judged against, and it does not change if we later re-shape the service.

Nothing leaves the field until every stage that was promised has been met. The evidence then comes to us, not to you. We verify it — that is, we decide whether what came back answers what was agreed — and that decision is recorded against the person who made it and the time they made it. The person who did the work never signs off their own work.

Some stages wait on you. Where a task involves a decision that is yours to make, it stops there until you answer, and we will not proceed on your behalf.

Once we have verified the outcome, we tell you and the record is closed. If you find a problem after that, you can still raise it under clause 8.

6. Cancelling, and refunds

You can cancel a task at no charge at any point before it is dispatched.

Once a Field Partner is on the way or on site, we refund what was not spent doing the work. Transport already incurred, fees already paid on your behalf, and time already spent on site are not refundable.

Money you sent us to spend on your behalf and which has not been spent is returned in full whenever a task ends, whoever ended it and for whatever reason. It was never a charge, so there is nothing for us to keep.

If we cancel — nobody available, the task turns out to be one we will not take, or we cannot reach you for something the work depends on — you are refunded in full, less any third-party fee already paid on your behalf and not recoverable.

Refunds go back the way the money came, to the account it came from.

7. Tasks we will not take

We will not accept a task that:

  • is illegal, or is a step in something illegal
  • involves impersonating you or anybody else where the law or the institution requires the person themselves
  • involves paying a bribe, a facilitation payment, or anything dressed up as one
  • involves collecting, moving or storing cash, firearms, drugs, or anything restricted
  • puts a Field Partner at physical risk, or asks them somewhere they should not be
  • is intended to harass, track, intimidate or surveil somebody
  • involves a person who has not agreed to be involved, where their agreement is what makes it lawful or decent

A Field Partner may stop a task and leave at any point if the situation on the ground turns out to be one of these, or is unsafe. You are charged for what had already been spent, and nothing more.

8. When something goes wrong

Tell us, on the task thread or by email to support@taskassure.africa.

We aim to respond within 72 hours. We work from the record: the plan agreed at intake, the evidence captured, the timestamps, and the messages on the task. Every status change on a task is logged and we do not edit that log.

If the work was not done, or not done as agreed, we will put it right — by redoing it, or by refunding it. Where fault is shared, we will say so and apportion it.

9. What we are responsible for, and what we are not

We are responsible for doing what we said we would do, with reasonable care and skill, and for the conduct of the Field Partners we send — including one you put forward yourself, once we have checked and cleared them. Who found somebody does not change who answers for them.

We are not responsible for:

  • the decision of a third party — an office, a hospital, a landlord, a school — or how long they take
  • information that is wrong because the brief we were given was wrong or incomplete
  • the condition of property, goods or documents before we were involved
  • a delay caused by something outside our control: weather, strikes, network or power failure, or an office that is simply closed
  • money you pay a Field Partner directly, where you nominated them and agreed their rate yourself. That is between you and them; what we can refund is what you paid us

Except where the law does not allow us to limit it — death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and fraud — our total liability for any one task is limited to what you paid for that task. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

10. Your side of it

Give us a brief that is true and complete. Have the right to ask for what you are asking for. Tell us in advance about anything that makes the task risky, sensitive, or likely to involve somebody who will object.

Where the task concerns another person — a relative, a tenant, a patient, a beneficiary — you confirm you are entitled to arrange it on their behalf, and that you have told them what you can.

Keep the conversation on the task thread. It is your record as much as ours, and off-platform arrangements with a Field Partner are outside anything we can stand behind, guarantee or refund.

11. Field Partners

Field Partners are checked before they work, and we record who checked them and when. They are independent contractors. They are paid out of the task price after our fee, once we have verified the outcome.

A Field Partner may not solicit your work off the platform, may not ask you for money directly, and may not use anything they learn on a task for any other purpose. Tell us if one does.

Somebody you put forward

You can ask us to use somebody you already trust. If you do:

  • they are checked to the same standard as anybody else before they work — an identity check, a current certificate of good conduct, two referees we call, and a conversation with us. Until that is done they cannot be sent to a task, including yours. It usually takes weeks rather than days, and most of that is the certificate;
  • we scope the task, fix the plan, set what evidence it has to produce and verify what comes back, exactly as we would otherwise;
  • you pay them for their work directly and agree their rate with them. What you pay us is the assurance fee for the task, which covers the plan, the evidence standard, the verification and everything in section 8;
  • if we cannot clear them, or they let you down, we will tell you and send one of ours instead. Section 8 applies either way;
  • we will not send them to another customer's task unless they have told us themselves that they want that work. Nominating somebody does not put them on our roster, and it is not your decision to make for them.

12. Evidence and records

Evidence belongs to the task. You can see and download what was captured for yours, for as long as your account is open.

We keep task records — including evidence — for seven years, because they are our accounting records and our answer to any later dispute. What we do with personal information inside them is set out in the Privacy Policy.

13. Suspending or closing an account

You can close your account at any time; open tasks are settled first.

We can suspend or close an account that abuses a Field Partner, submits tasks under clause 7, charges back a payment for work that was evidenced and confirmed, or is being used fraudulently. Where it is not urgent, we will tell you why first.

14. Changing these terms

We amend these terms as the service changes. The version and the date it took effect are shown at the top of this page, and every earlier version is kept.

A change takes effect for tasks submitted after it is published. It does not change the terms of a task already underway. For anything material we will give notice by email before it starts to bind.

15. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction. Nothing here removes a right you have under Kenyan consumer law that cannot be signed away.

If one clause turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stands.
